


Rules and Code of Conduct

Members shall participate safely, to the best of their ability, in any Circle Activities

Each member shall endeavor to dress appropriately to the theme of the show or event, and the combat engaged.

Protective Gloves, preferably leather or welding gloves, will be used during all combat
-
Decent enclosed footwear should be worn
-
Bring any necessary water, refreshments, chairs or equipment to training- not provided
-
Remember that all Combat is theatrical and all blows shall be pulled with no intent to harm- We want to “kill” each other, not hurt each other.

Combat is not necessarily competitive and therefore there is no need for excessive force in your fighting- Blows should be pulled to avoid injury

Ensure appropriate skill with any weapon before engaging in open combat; train first.

Listen to any instructions given- Hold, Wait, Slow etc

The care and maintenance of weapons and equipment is vital. Keep edges deburred and weapons clean and clear of rust. Any handles/hafts that have wrapping (leather, wire, cloth, etc) is to be in good condition and cannot cause injury. Any wooden haft is not to be cracked or splintered.

Treat all members of the Circle with respect.

Respect the facilities, environment and surroundings in which Circle activities take place

Treat all weapons, gear, armour and equipment with respect

Respect personal property; ask before using someone else’s equipment or weapons

Ensure area is clear before beginning combat

If any injury does occur then both parties (injured and injurer) will leave the field and will seek medical attention, and inform a member of the committee. The injurer will make sure that the injured person is okay before resuming combat.

If temperature exceeds 36 degrees, fighting will be postponed
